Zinc plating

Some week ago I ordered a small kit for electroplating of zinc and nickel and today I gave it a first try. I started off with a clutch spring and was quite happy about the result.

In the last picture below you can see three springs at different stages:

1) Degreased and cleaned
2) Etched in citric acid to remove rust
3) Electro plated with zinc

I think the kit will be quite handy to restore the finish of small parts such as nuts, bolts washers etc.
