ding this I decided to work on the old cover and try to give it a decent finish. I sanded of the roughest surfaces and then used the same paint as on the crankcase halves. The result was OK I think.

Painting aternator cover
Last week I got a new alternator cover that I bought from German Ebay. I was quite disappointed when I discovered that it didn’t fit the engine! The cover was from a -96 Superlight and apparently Ducati has made a change of the crankshaft and generator. The support bearing in the cover was about 15 mm further out from the engine centre, so I cannot use the newly bought cover. :-(
